     The ‘Pandora’s box’ inherited by the unprepared Modi Govt

Why the everlasting success of PM Modi’s rule depends on the performance of the HRD team?

While the PM Modi govt may rejoice over the victories from the recent Assembly elections results;

the following news is a significant signal that may prove to be a great hurdle to the ultimate victory over corruption and the derailed nation building. (http://tamilsdirection.blogspot.in/2016/10/caution-bjps-support-to-strengthen.html )

“Just days after writing a post on inequality, 27-year-old Dalit MPhil student at JNU Muthu Krishnan was found having allegedly committed suicide in south Delhi's Munirka area Monday evening.”; http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2017/mar/13/another-rohith-vemula-at-jnu-salem-student-commits-suicide-alleging-discrimination-1580984.html

The father of the diseased Muthu Krishnan, had contested the suicide theory, and had demanded a CBI probe. (http://www.maalaimalar.com/News/TopNews/2017/03/14105329/1073631/Muthukrishnan-parents-says-my-son-death-mystery.vpf )

Also Muthu Krishnan’s following Facebook post , in my view, added strength to the above statement of Muthu Krishnan’s father.

“This year in the interview 8 minutes I spoke, I answered all the question…
Three professors told me that “You spoke well”
Now I realized that
I am the only one from Government arts college
Came to study in central university
and I am the only one from salem district
Got selected in JNU
I am the only one from HCU got selected in Modern Indian history
Thank you so much my supervisor B Eswar Bonela, He really found research
Scholar inside me, He encouraged me to write my own proposal Which I wrote 38 times
there is lot of people to thank
For this historical moment,,, that is why I am going to write a Book

‘Muthu Krishnan was a student at the University of Hyderabad when fellow Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula committed suicide in January 2016 and had blogged about meeting Rohith and his mother, Radhika.’; http://www.newindianexpress.com/nation/2017/mar/13/another-rohith-vemula-at-jnu-salem-student-commits-suicide-alleging-discrimination-1580984.html

Even if Muthu Krishnan’s death proved to be not a suicide, the caste based discrimination, he had experienced, deserved serious attention in the interest of ensuring the social justice.

Rohith Vemula’s suicide just opened a ‘Pandora’s box’, bringing out more and more caste based discrimination in the higher educations, especially in IITs, etc.

In my view, if there was no inhuman stopping of the scholarship money to Rohith Vemula, as the ill-conceived form of punishment, to his ‘mistakes’ under inquiry;

probably, the ‘Pandora’s box’ might have continued to be closed, as it was during the previous Congress govt.

"If you, who is reading this letter can do anything for me, I have to get 7 months of my fellowship, Rs 1.75 lakh”  - Rohith Vemula’s suicide note; http://www.mid-day.com/articles/research-scholars-suicide-rohith-vemula-didnt-get-fellowship-for-the-past-seven-months/16879192

Both the opening of the  ‘Pandora’s box’ and  the consequent ‘ban on the student group, Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC) by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has sparked protests across other IITs and educational institutes who have started their own versions of APSC as a mark of solidarity.’;

Higher Education institutions deserve ‘special focus’ to develop the soft power of the govt, which in turn, will help to minimize the role of the hard power to deal with the internal enemies.

Also the role of corruption, exploiting both the real and distorted grievances, in the growth of regionalism, separatism and terrorism, interlinked by the foreign funded NGO activism, challenging the nation building process, deserves the urgent probe, followed by the viable, pro-human, remedial measures.

In the above context, I like to share that I could discover the above complex mechanism, subjecting my previous association with the anti-Brahmin Tamilnadu separatist ideology of ‘Periyar’ EVR, the founder of the Dravidian movement in Tamilnadu;

to the analysis in the light of my subsequent inter-disciplinary research findings, involving Physics, Music, ancient Tamil & Sanskrit texts, & Sociology. ………..

The following news is just an example to understand the social mechanism, linking corruption with extremism;
‘MN is known for his pro-Tamil chants and secret funding to pro-Tamil groups in the state.   During the agitations in 2008 and 2009 against the Srilankan army - LTTE war, MN was found hobnobbing with pro Eelam groups so much so that he even participated in hall meetings and public rallies organised by the Pro-Tamil groups.’ ; http://whispersintamilnadu.blogspot.in/2011/12/sasikalas-ouster-m-natarajans-game-plan.html  No wonder, if a probe revealed the active participation of many in the above groups, joining in, ‘all the evils flew out’, on the opening of the above mentioned ‘Pandora’s box’, following Rohith Vemula’s suicide.

Probably M.Natarajan, unaware of the political elastic limit of exploiting the ‘pro-Tamil’ sentiments, to ‘camouflage’ the ‘unbelievable’ corrupt activities of the Sasikala Natarajan families, had crossed the limit, to ‘emerge’ openly as ‘Tamil Patron Leader’, by ‘inaugurating’ a monument for LTTE called ‘Mulli Vaikkal Mutram’, and was caught by the late TN CM Jayalalitha for conspiring against her, and was imprisoned. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Thn5XgYFOvM ).

Unaware of the depoliticizing process in Tamilnadu, during the rule of the Dravidian parties, and consequent decaying of their ‘pro-Tamil’ ideological strength, TN BJP just travelled as a ‘tail’ to those parties, even to the extent of attending the above mentioned inauguration, and Subramania Swamy openly supporting the present  ‘imprisoned Sasikala’s Benami rule’ in TN. In my observation, TN is now ripe for the emerging of the ‘Shiva sena style’ ‘pro-Tamil’ political party, acknowledging the sacrifices of ‘Periyar’ EVR  & C.N.Annadurai;

blaming the Nehru dynasty for their separation from the mainstream India;

and blaming the colonial conspiracy for their so called ‘anti-Brahmin’ track records;

as even their political enemies had not accused them of amazing wealth thru their contribution in the public domain. Godse’s assassination of Gandhi, which I disapproved, did not prevent me to acknowledge his patriotism and sacrifices.

In my view, during the last two years, Modi Govt’s performance in employing the soft power to weaken the separatist forces was disappointing. The soft power is a double edged weapon w.r.t unifying, as well as, disintegrating a country like India. The above complex mechanism exploiting the corruption among the politicians and officials ( in regionalism/separatism/terrorism infected states from Kashmir to Tamilnadu, especially after the rise of the late PM Indira Gandhi), by encouraging emotions to dominate over reason, weaken the soft power for ‘unifying the country’, while strengthening the soft power for disintegrating the country.’; (‘Is BJP aware of the derailing of the Indian nation building process?’; http://tamilsdirection.blogspot.in/2016/07/normal-0-false-false-false-en-in-x-none_18.html )

While PM Modi govt was rightly targeting the foreign funded NGOs w.r.t their role in weakening India;

the HRD ministry was, unconsciously, helping them by opening the ‘Pandora’s box’ and the other related measures, mentioned above; to attack the Modi govt in the domain, where it was least prepared to defend.

While one cannot unwind the ill-advised above moves of the HRD wing of the Modi govt;

those genuinely interested in enforcing the social justice in the higher education;

need to separate the noise from the signals to understand;  (‘Chennai IIT & APSC issue : The Noises dominating over the Signals; http://tamilsdirection.blogspot.in/2015/05/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none_30.html

that the  ‘Pandora’s box’ was INHERITED by the Modi govt;

who did not follow the ‘Congress Govt’ style of ensuring ‘no opening’ of the ‘Pandora’s box’, like they did in the case of Muslims, ensuring their vote bank , thru the ‘under development’ and ‘periodic riots’’.

How did Modi govt succeed in ‘educating’ significant number of Muslims to realize the above mischief, and take pro-active steps to their development along with non-Muslim citizens of India, leading to the unprecedented victory in the UP assembly elections?

Probably the opening of the above mentioned ‘Pandora’s box’, may prove to be a blessing in disguise;

If Modi govt involved patriotic scholars to sense & address the genuine grievances of the caste based discrimination, inherited from the successive previous govts.

I suggest two pronged approach of;

first instilling confidence among both the faculty & students to register genuine complaints, assuring speedy impartial probe and punishment to the culprits, irrespective of their power and influence;

and addressing to all the genuine grievances of the faculty and students.

Had the present arrangements for the above needs, were working well;

Rohith Vemula’s suicide and all subsequent unfortunate developments would not have happened.

In fact an impartial expert probe into the failures of the present bodies in the higher education institutions addressing the above needs, may suggest the ways and means to plug the holes;

and ensure significant progress to end the caste based discrimination in the higher education.

Also pro-RSS forums can take the initiative to form a common forum to support the above efforts to end the caste based discrimination in the higher education  (‘India's RSS urges war against 'evil' of casteism’; http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1507163/posts ). It may help to de-emotionalize the issues, to pursue the viable remedies, thereby improving the academic environment in the campus.

Also we must remember that the English medium education had unconsciously planted the infection of the ‘Western Paradigm’ into our minds, looking down all native languages, cultures, etc. Only with awareness and constant struggle, we could succeed in getting freedom from that colonial infection. Also the freedom from that colonial infection, shall not lead to the Sanskrit-centric pitfall. For example Vedic-centric ‘Hindu’ definition will repel all the Tamil - centric Saivites all over the world. All native languages & cultures need to be ‘nourished’ to ensure ‘the right freedom’. Otherwise it will help the foreign funded NGOs, exploiting all kinds of discriminations on the basis of language, caste, religion, etc. and succeed in derailing the Indian nation building process. Unless the Indian nation building process succeeded, India would follow the Soviet Union style disintegration, during the post-Modi phase, with still worse consequences, under the rule of several regional dynastic thugs. Hence the everlasting success of PM Modi’s rule depends on the performance of the HRD team headed by the minister Prakash Javadekar in dealing with the ‘opened Pandora’s Box’, to get rid of all evils in the higher education.

The other disturbing difference between student protests in early 1970s and late 2010s is that campuses have become fertile grounds for polluting young minds, by converting freedom of expression into a tool for promoting separatism.” (http://www.newindianexpress.com/prabhu-chawla/column/2017/mar/05/unity-of-india-a-casualty-of-new-campus-protests-supporting-divisive-agendas-1577711--1.html )

‘Converting freedom of expression into a tool for promoting separatism’ signals the strengthening of the soft power for disintegrating a country like India. Any temptation for combating the negative role of the soft power, by the hard power, will amount to admitting the inability and failure, in ensuring the positive role of the soft power in strengthening the nation building process.

We need to encourage scholarly dialogue in the higher education institutions to combat the evil. Instead the emotion based violent approach will help the foreign funded NGOs, well placed in these institutions, to derail the nation building process, exploiting all real as well as magnified/ imagined caste based grievances.
