             Will JNU help ‘the nation building’ process, or derail it?

                 Is JNU a Pandora’s Box ,camouflaged by the ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ ?

                               The compulsion ‘to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai’;

              The signal for the Disruptive Dimension of ‘the nation building process' ?

“There’s the matter of justice – the progress of the 2013 PIL, and whether it is being pursued purely to seek justice, or to seek an end result. It is also being pursued to officially register the protest against Kunan-Poshpora and pursue an inquiry as far as possible. There’s the extensive documentation in the book – individual victims’ accounts of the incident, maps of the scenes, a list of the soldiers involved, the investigation and the burial of the FIRs, the medical reports and the police reports.”
-‘JNU protests, Afzal Guru's hanging and Kunan-Poshpora case: None of us know the real Kashmir’
By Sneha Rajaram

Like the civilians, there are both good and bad guys in the army of every country, and deployment of the armed forces in the civilian regions may lead to the human rights violations by the ‘bad guys’ in the armed forces, even in UN peacekeeping missions. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_sexual_abuse_by_UN_peacekeepers)
The deployment of the Indian army in Srilanka (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Peace_Keeping_Force#Controversies )  & in UN peace keeping jobs,  ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Army_United_Nations_peacekeeping_missions#Allegations_of_Sexual_Misconduct ) ; witnessed the charges of ‘atrocities’ indulged by the ‘bad guys’.

The Kunan-Poshpora case needs to be pursued to ensure justice, which must prove to be a good beginning to ensure similar justice to all the victims in all the reported cases; and not for defaming the entire army, forgetting the good deeds, including the ‘unforgettable’ rescue operations during the floods in Kashmir. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Armed_Forces_and_the_Jammu_and_Kashmir_Floods,_2014)

But was Sneha Rajaram right in linking Kunan-Poshpora case with ‘the India's illegal occupation of Kashmir’ as claimed by Pakistan, and  Afzal Guru's hanging ?

Sneha Rajaram, interestingly , referred to the ‘statement by JNU professor Nivedita Menon which said, "Everyone knows that India is illegally occupying Kashmir. Everybody accepts [it] […] The map of India in foreign publications like Time and Newsweek show a different map of Kashmir. These copies of the magazines always create a lot of controversy and are censored and destroyed. When the whole world is talking about India's illegal occupation of Kashmir, then we should think the pro-azaadi slogans in the valley are justified.”

and added “After reading about Kunan Poshpora, Menon’s statement seems like a case of the Emperor’s New Clothes to me.”

If Kashmir’s accession to India is wrong, then the accession of 635 princely states must also be wrong. (‘On 4 June 1947 Mountbatten held a press conference in which he addressed the question of the princely states, of whicIn fach there were then a total of 635. The treaty relations between Britain and the Indian States would come to an end, and on 15 August 1947 the suzerainty of the British Crown was to lapse. Consequently, the princely states would assume independent status. They would be free to choose to accede to one or the other of the new dominions.’ ; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Independence_Act_1947#Princely_states  )

Except Hydrabad (the forced annexation), including Kashmir, all the princely states were annexed to India by the voluntary acts by the respective princes. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princely_state )

Thanks to the pro-patriotic strong approach by late Sardar Vallabhai Patel, India is now united, Kashmir suffering due to the mishandling by the late PM Nehru.

Armed forces used to be deployed in various parts of India, whenever the situations go out of control by the state forces.

Any ‘atrocity’ indulged by the ‘black sheep’ in the armed forces in those regions, must be enquired and justice shall be rendered to the victims.

Instead, exploiting the issue to question the annexation of the region with India, will reopen the most dangerous Pandora’s Box [camouflaged by the ‘progressive’ (?) ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ (?)], leading to anarchy, filling the India map with innumerable ‘East Timor’s or ‘South Sudan’s; a real punishment to all Indians.

Assume that Kashmir, an independent country like  East Timor or South Sudan, and the Kunan Poshpora, had taken place with the deployment of the Indian army, as the UN peace keeping force; can Kunan Poshpora be linked to the ‘status’ of Kashmir’s independence, as the reason.

Will not the linking of the Kunan Poshpora with ‘India's illegal occupation of Kashmir’ defocus and weaken the efforts to render justice to the victims?

W.r.t to Afzal Guru's hanging;

“Anyone who dared to study the evidence act, criminal procedure code & other laws employed to award the death sentences to   Afzal Guru, Maqbool Bhat & also the other kinds of hard core criminals, could understand, how those laws, based on the heritage and the social conditions in UK, were 'incompatible' with the heritage and the social conditions of India. It's inevitable consequence would result in the 'shortfalls' in the 'evidences' & 'the procedure', which could be pointed out, thus damaging all the death sentences awarded so far in Independent India; apart from the 'govt style' bungling in the probe of the assassinations of 'Mahatma' Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, & Rajiv Gandhi;  for example , did the conviction of Godse,  bother to probe the origin of the Italian Beretta pistol  used by Godse in killing 'Mahatma' Gandhi, as pointed out by Mr.Subramaniyan Swamy,  (http://zeenews.india.com/news/india/subramanian-swamy-seeks-to-reopen-mahatma-gandhi-assassination-case-smells-conspiracy_1822169.html  ), &  the 'security lapses', if any, in helping Godse to carry out the assassination.” ( ‘Is JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar aware of the 'discrimination' in the 'human rights support ', with the probable 'hidden agenda' ? What about the azadi  from the lack of   transparency, accountability, & social justice in funding the universities? ; http://tamilsdirection.blogspot.in/2016/03/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none.html )

Afzal Guru's hanging , the Kunan Poshpora, and the so called ‘India's illegal occupation of Kashmir’ are three different issues, deserving a serious discussion in the background of the issues related to India’s ‘nation building’, faced by all the ‘colony infected’ countries, during the post-colonial phase.

Unfortunately the western imported concepts seem to derail the ‘nation building’ process, encouraging divisive tendencies & serving the vested interests in India & abroad; the worst victim being the Kashmir, while the rest of India too suffers in varying degrees due to the ‘chauvinistic’ regional/regional wing of the national (?) ruling parties, especially in the inter-state disputes; derailing the REAL development of India.

It will be good if the JNU debate extend to the issues of the ‘nation building’, initiated by Rajiv Malhotra.

” What is currently happening is the importing of various Western concepts into the Indian narrative which Malhotra says is taking away from our own identity... A grand narrative is essential partly because it enables Indians to understand how to co-exist, and this narrative would be an Indian substitute for secularism, which is someone else’s narrative." ; http://logos.nationalinterest.in/2014/10/the-indian-grand-narrative/

The disruptive dimension of the nation building process, erupted in the form of the compulsion ‘to chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. (http://www.firstpost.com/india/bharat-mata-ki-jai-controversy-3-boys-allegedly-beaten-up-in-delhi-over-refusal-to-chant-slogan-2702308.html?utm_source=FP_CAT_LATEST_NEWS ) Love for the motherland, like the love for the mother, has to be voluntary. Instead if there was any compulsion, it shall be treated as a signal, that something was basically wrong with the relationship between the person and his/her mother as well as the motherland. ( Rashtriya Swayemsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat sent out a clear message for sangh pariwar members saying that chanting of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' cannot be forced upon the people. It has to be done voluntarily, Bhagwat said.; http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Chanting-of-Bharat-Mata-Ki-Jai-cant-be-forced-on-others-RSS-chief/articleshow/51585274.cms?from=mdr) The right remedial measures included discouraging the compulsions, and identifying the root causes, disrupting the natural bond.

Also the disruptive dimension of the nation-system building process was mainly responsible for the ‘law and order problem’ created by the above compulsion. The ‘nation building process’ can succeed, only when the ‘system (to sustain the nation) building process’ succeeds in getting rid of the ‘colonial contamination’ (like the above compulsion), with the help of our heritage and culture, undergoing modernization without westernization.

Was there any discussion in JNU on the disintegration of the Soviet Union, and the lessons for India, w..r.t the ‘nation building process’ and the ‘system  building process’?

Did the pitfalls in the ‘nation building process’ result in the lack of transparency, accountability, & social justice, in many of the activities of the govt, including the funding of the universities; with JNU cornering funds more than that allotted to ALL the state funded affiliated universities in a state, like those in Tamilnadu? Were corruption, favoritism, & discrimination, the inevitable results of the pitfalls? From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, ordinary people, who without connections to the political parties or ‘influences’, in general, cannot dream of sending their children to JNU, undergo different kinds of sufferings, as the ultimate results of the pitfalls? Do those ‘enjoying’ the ‘benefits’ of the governing with the pitfalls, either due to ignorance, or due to their ‘hidden agenda’, try to exploit those ‘different’ kinds of sufferings, encourage the ‘different’ kinds of ‘divisive tactics’,   to ‘break’ India, to serve the vested interests abroad, filling the India map with  ‘East Timor’s or ‘South Sudan’s.

Will those sincere pro-patriots in JNU help ‘the nation building’ process, or those with ‘the hidden agenda’ derail it?

Note: Prior to my music research, under the influence of ‘Periyar’ EVR ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periyar_E._V._Ramasamy ), I was convinced that the remedy to the Tamils’ ills, included the ‘independent Tamilnadu’, accomplished with the ‘anti-Brahmin’ ideology. During that phase, I was very close to the top level LTTE leaders, including Anton Blasingham, playing significant role in helping LTTE to emerge strong, side-lining the other ‘Elam’ groups. Disillusioned with their ‘wrong progress’, I migrated to music research, applying ‘Physics of Music’ to the ancient Tamil texts. That led to ‘unbelievable’ discoveries not only  on the ancient wisdom in music (http://musicdrvee.blogspot.in/ & http://musictholkappiam.blogspot.in/  ), but also ‘opened my eyes’ to ‘the pitfalls’, in the ‘pre-music research’ phase of my life.
