A brief on Jayamohan’s article on
EVR
My attention was drawn to the following article;
'பெரியாரின் பிராமணர்
எதிர்ப்புக்கு காரணம் தெரியுமா? எழுத்தாளர் ஜெயமோகன் சர்ச்சை கருத்து'
Jayamohan's Tamil book on Gandhi, had refutable
blunders. Few years before, I paid the price & got the book from
Pudukkottai Gnanalaya Krishnamoorthy. I started marking the portions that I
could refute with the evidences. Meanwhile Gnanalaya Krishnamoorthy got the
book from me, and did not return it till now. Due to lack of time, I could not
work on it.
My close friend in Pudukkottai, Thiru.Kodandapani
had collected valuable references to expose Gandhi. (‘Was Mahatma Gandhi a hypocrite?’;http://www.dailyo.in/politics/mahatma-gandhi-subhas-bose-ahimsa-non-violence-british-raj-independence/story/1/4756.html ) Hope both of us will find
time to work on those evidences, to bring out a book against ‘Gandhi Mania’; reason weakening, emotion banking based ‘myth making’ of the Indian leaders (like Gandhi, Nehru, EVR, etc), fuel, all kinds of anti-social, divisive forces. Encouraging emotion free, open minded intellectual debates, may help to combat the mania (without ignoring – like Jayamohan w.r.t EVR- their sacrifices), strengthening the soft power to unify the people & to rescue the country from the divisive forces.
The soft power is a double edged weapon w.r.t unifying as well as disintegrating a country like India. The above mania, by encouraging emotions to dominate over reason, weaken the soft power for ‘unifying the country’, while strengthening the soft power for disintegrating the country. For example the hard power of the Kashmir militants is not as powerful as the ‘soft power’ of the ‘regional chauvinistic’ state govts , in inter-state disputes, for disintegrating the country. Also unless the invisible bond (aided by the above mania, and most of the foreign funded NGOs) between the soft power and the hard power of the disintegrating forces, are exposed and weakened, they may very well succeed, with the timing under the control of the dynamics of the world vested interests.
In fact I concur with Godse's stand on Gandhi ( though I disapproved the assassination, the wrong way to oppose a person) & surprisingly EVR exposed some them in in 1930s & 1940s in his weekly 'Kudi Aracu- குடி அரசு'.

I suggest to ‘Periyar’ parties to bring out a
collection of EVR’s articles on Gandhi,
in 'குடி அரசு'. ( some of them unbelievably humorous under the pen name ‘Chiththira Puththiran- சித்திர புத்திரன்’)
I
am willing to support it, to the extent possible at my end.
Similarly Jayamohan's article on EVR was written,
without referring to all the evidences.
For example, Why did EVR seek the support of Rajaji
& his Brahmin supporters for his ' independent Dravida Nadu" & why
they openly supported the demand? (‘Good that Dravida Nadu was not separated- நல்லவேளை, திராவிடநாடு பிரியவில்லை’; http://tamilsdirection.blogspot.in/2015/04/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none_21.html )
Probably Jayamohan did not refer to EVR's address
in a Chennai Brahmins' forum, published in Anaimuthu's 'Periyar EVR's Thoughts- ஆனைமுத்துவின் 'பெரியார் ஈ.வெ.ரா சிந்தனைகள்
தொகுப்பு'.
The above article suggests that Jayamohan may be suffering from the ‘Social Colour Blindness’ w.r.t EVR (as 'black') & Gandhi (as 'white'). (http://tamilsdirection.blogspot.in/2013/12/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none_4.html
)
In my view, had EVR been alive, he would have
openly supported Modi ( like he supported Kamaraj) & the present RSS stand
against caste & religion based discrimination. EVR had supported Telugu Brahmin atheist Gora &
joined with him in some programme in Coimbatore. Note that EVR had supported uniform
civil code till his death.
Note: In the previous post, I had included Jayamohan in the list of the role models, who had educated their children in the Tamil medium Govt schools.
