Why Rajni may be the modern avatar of E.V.R?

Recently Coimbatore witnessed a pro- EVR & Ambedkar conference. Of all the resolutions passed in the conference, the resolution condemning Rajni’s opposition to anti-Sterlite like agitations, attracted my attention. Gandhi’s ‘satyagraha’ in its implementation introduced agitations, ending in damaging the public property and public life. 

‘Non-Cooperation movement; Gandhi has always had ideas for destroying what he had planted, due to Chauri Chaura incident, he call off the movement which lead to death of 6 peoples in police custody, 19 people were sentence to death and 110 people were sentence to life imprisonment. But E.V.R was vigilant in ensuring no damage to the public property and public life in all the struggles he had led, including 1925 Vaikom struggle, 1938 anti-Hindi agitation and many others. Also, during 1957 Mudukulathur riots & 1965 anti-Hindi agitation, E.V.R had urged then govts to use all the forces to crush the agitation with the iron hand, to restore public order at the earliest. Of all the current leaders, Rajni was the only person to condemn anti-Sterlite like agitations, following E.V.R style, unafraid of the criticisms.

Do ‘Periyar’ parties follow E.V.R’s approach with respect to the agitations?

LTTE Prabakaran seems to be replacing ‘Periyar’ E.V.R in Tamilnadu, fooling few of the mostly first generation educated youth by ‘affluent’ leaders with no transparency and accountability with respect to the financial sources for such anti-India activities.

‘Periyar’ party volunteers who were arrested for attacking Thuglak editor’s residence, had been involved in two petrol bomb attacks on Woodlands Hotel and Sathyam theatre. If ‘Periyar’ parties were the true followers  of E.V.R, they should be the first persons to praise Rajni for following E.V.R in condemning 1965 anti-Hindi agitation  imitation of the anti-Sterlite agitation, and advising students to concentrate on studies instead of ruining their study and career by joining in politics.

Instead, they had condemned Rajni in the above resolution, which ipso facto condemned E.V.R’s opposing 1965 anti-Hindi like agitations. 

Republishing E.V.R’s published speeches & writings, urging the then govts to crush the above 1957 caste riot and 1965 anti-Hindi agitation with iron hands is the urgent need of the present, in my view.. The true followers of E.V.R and Rajni need to do it for rescuing TN from agitations damaging public property and public order. Also, it is high time to reinvent E.V.R style agitations in which the leaders and the volunteers bear the sufferings and not the public.

During the 50th anniversary of Thuglak programme, Rajni cited the 1971 Salem DK anti-Hindu Gods procession related Thuglak ban by then CM Karunanidhi, as the boost for Thuglak circulation. The violent criticisms opposing Rajni & foiled bomb attack on Thuglak editor Gurumurthy implied ‘Periyar’ parties’ ipso facto rejection of EVR who till his death did not meet criticism with violence. Communist leader D.Raja had similar experience when he criticized Thuglak in front of Cho on the stage, as shown in the following link.

Both E.V.R and Thuglak encouraged criticisms on their stage. If ‘Periyar’ parties resorted to violence and agitation to meet the criticisms, will it not mean ‘Periyar’ parties’ ipso facto rejection of EVR. 

I doubt if ‘Periyar’ parties’ leaders have the moral courage and the intellectual strength of justifying EVR in 1971 Salem DK anti-Hindu God procession and burning of the picture of Ram, in EVR style.

Will DK refute & publish a rejoinder to the following article in their journal 'The Modern Rationalist'?

I employ the above E.V.R’s yardstick to select my personal social circle, ignoring their ideological preferences like pro or anti- Hindutva. 

Our personal social circle is the most precious asset deciding the nature of our relation to the society & nature. The strength of its social fencing depends on our internal strength. Unless we practice the reverse discrimination to exclude corrupt & unethical persons in our personal social circle, we cannot ensure the divine guidance to reach a blessed place at the final phase of our life journey; denied to the fools in the upper middle class and affluent people who worship the new rich.

After Independence, unlike the central govt of then PM Nehru tainted with corruption, Tamilnadu govt system building was strong with no scope for corruption.  The growth of DMK at the cost of DK led to the eruption of public property and public order damaging 1965 anti-Hindi agitation, leading to DMK capturing power in 1967. Then TN started travelling in the direction of the ‘Scientific Corruption’. With the demise of the former chief ministers Jayalalitha and Karunanidhi, Tamilnadu seems to have reached the turning point, for becoming better or worse.

Unless the above two recommendations namely;

1.    Republishing E.V.R’s published speeches & writings urging the then govts to crush the above 1957 caste riot and 1965 anti-Hindi agitation with iron hands,

2.    Reinventing E.V.R style agitations in which the leaders and the volunteers bear the sufferings and not the public,

are implemented by Rajni or any new alternative leader;

Tamilnadu could not be rescued from the public life merchants.
